The photography of Christy Lee Rogers is almost impossible to categorize. At first glance, her multi-blended images look more like paintings, and are frequently likened to Baroque art and the works of Caravaggio. They are certainly romantic in their vision, with a richness and vibrancy of colour that would probably have appealed to the Italian master.
Of course, the methodology behind the creation of Christy's photographs is far different to the techniques applied to one of Caravaggio's works. Her canvas is the surface of a swimming pool, in the depths of which are models draped in colourful fabrics, who hold their breath while moving into positions set by the photographer.
