I stepped out of my air-conditioned hotel into what seemed like a sauna. Within minutes I was dripping with sweat. The outside air temperature was about 35°C (95ºF) with 85 percent humidity – and this is normal for January in the Iguazú Jungle in Argentina. I’m here to photograph the famous waterfalls of Iguazú when they’re flowing at their best, but before I can mount the camera to the tripod to capture the first image, I have to wait until the temperature of my camera equalizes with the outside temperature. I have it securely sealed in a zip-lock plastic bag; otherwise, all I would be photographing is misty images of the falls as the condensation covers my lens.
