Oppo’s Reno series has been a formidable system in the mid-price smartphone segment and we reviewed the Reno6 Pro in October 2021. And here we are, with the latest Reno7 Pro, only five months later. While the Reno5 and 6 shared almost similar designs with cosmetic changes, the Reno7 Pro is certainly different.
Design & Build Quality
The Reno7 Pro offers a clean design with a matte finished back surface and sturdy aluminium frame. The device is available in Startrails Blue and Starlight Black colours, which offer a nice gradient and speckled design respectively. Both look refreshingly premium. The camera module is perched on a metal platform with what Oppo calls a 3D Orbit Breathing Light around it. This optical fibre light can be customised for notifications, charging and various other scenarios, and with a blue glow, it makes a stunning design statement. The cameras are protected by a wear-resistant coated ceramic layer while the screen is guarded by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass. The phone has a punch hole front camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, which we honestly feel is becoming obsolete in a smartphone with even HiRes audio coming to Bluetooth earbuds and speakers.
