There's a difference between wishful thinking and reality. Nothing falls into our laps; we need to plan and work hard.
As we walked to the public funfair, a petite looking girl with a sharp nose, dressed in smart white, thrust into my face a 'lucky draw'. She proclaimed to my silent self, “If you win this lucky dip, you will get a Mercedes-Benz”. She continued, “I just need your phone number, and basic stuff, then you drop this lucky coupon in the box and drive away.” These tactics to obtain my phone number did not excite or interest me, yet, for the sake of this tiny power, I took that slip, opened the pen and scribbled my coordinates. I walked up to the box and just dropped it as if it was a trash bin. There ended my dialogue with the 'Merc'.
The girl came up to me, and pumped her fist like a cheerleader, and concluded her speech by almost declaring that I could drive to the office with the lucky Merc. She muttered that I would get a mail if I win, and I just heard her voice from a distant past as I moved on. She was history to me, and the trash was another deposit on the environment, and my saga with this lucky dip died a premature death.
A week of my life had already gone by since that day, and during a sunny post-lunch session with a cup of filter coffee I sat down to reply to certain emails. Replying to e-mails has become a large part of work-life today. I rarely look at my junk mail; it is an automated transfer to the trash in my inbox. I want a clean inbox and no clutter at all. Then all of a sudden, my eyes popped when I spotted a mail with a picture of a Merc.
