How to lead our next gen to think and live beyond the virtual world?
During my school and college days, I used to spend long hours in front of the TV, watching cricket matches. After wasting the whole day, sometimes even days (in the case of test matches), when the result was not in favour of India, I used to curse myself for the colossal waste of time, but this regret would last only till the commencement of the next match. Frustrated with my addiction, I questioned myself many a times, “Why was TV invented?”
Do you remember how, during the early stages of colour TV, the serial 'Mahabharata' was aired every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.? There used to be empty streets all across the country.
Be it an India vs Pakistan cricket match or be it modern-day TV serials, TV has invaded our living rooms, encroached into our privacy, eroded our moral values and imbalanced the balance sheet of every household where liabilities outweigh the asset side. Aren't we leading a life which is 'desire based' and not 'need based'?
