Bills Trade Wr Jones To Raiders For Pick
Bills Digest|November 3, 2019
Zay Jones’ turbulent time with the Buffalo Bills came to an end on Oct. 8 when the Bills traded Jones to the Oakland Raiders for a 2021 fifth-round pick.
Bills Trade Wr Jones To Raiders For Pick

A second-round pick in 2017 (37th overall), Jones was expected to be a major player for the Bills on offense coming out of college. At East Carolina, he had 158 catches for 1,746 yards and eight touchdowns and impressed with both his route-running skills and his consistent hands.

Jones had some good moments as a route runner, but his time with the Bills was plagued by inconsistency and injuries, while also being affected by an off-field incident.

In 36 games for Buffalo, Jones recorded 90 receptions for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns. Jones had clearly fallen out of favor on offense this season with seven catches for 69 yards before being traded to Oakland.

Jones was arrested for felony vandalism in March 2018 following an altercation with his brother, Cayleb, at a Los Angeles apartment building. In footage obtained by TMZ, Jones was seen running naked, saying he wanted to “fight for Jesus,” and TMZ reported that Jones had to be restrained from jumping out of a 30th floor window. The Bills stood by Jones while chargers were later dropped.

A breaking point for Jones with the Bills seemed to come in Buffalo’s Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots, when the receiver didn’t challenge for an errant Josh Allen pass that was picked off by New England. Jones was benched the following week against Tennessee, barely playing in the Bills victory.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys 6-2 • 235 pounds • 27 years old A solid starter who has a nice TD-INT ratio over his first five seasons (104-40), Prescott is an accurate thrower and very mobile. However, he’s coming off a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, so it remains to be seen if this will impact his game moving forward.

Hunter Henry, Chargers 6-5 • 250 pounds • 29 years old A very talented player, Henry has had issues staying healthy, unable to complete an NFL season, including missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. But when healthy, he’s a terrific all-around tight end who really connected with Justin Herbert in 2020 with 60 catches. Henry is very good at finding holes in zone coverage.
