‘We'll be the hunted team in the AFC East'

Here are some highlights from general manager Brandon Beane’s season-ending press conference.

Q: This season was obviously a very successful one for your team. How does this season change the bar, or the expectations moving forward?

BB: Back to back seasons with the playoffs, which is good. That’s a start to what I refer to as sustained success. We won the AFC East so we’ll obviously be the hunted team in that division. I think people will refer to us, this team played in the AFC Championship. We’re gonna get people’s best, we know that. Next year is a new year though. Nothing we did will matter when we start this offseason or when we start camp. Every team’s built up with new players so we’ll have to hit the reset button. We’ve got a lot of work to do to try and get this thing going and build a team that can earn its way back to where we were and hopefully further.

Q: Josh Allen took a huge step obviously this season. What are your thoughts on potentially working on a long-term extension with him this offseason?

BB: You know I don’t get into contracts, but it’s a fair question since I’m very proud of Josh. What I would say about him is I know he’s his own worst critic. Even though he had a great year just like he did last year, he kind of led out exit meeting. He went through what he’s got to do and he knows. He’s so driven, we’ve got to get Josh to power down and just reset. But he’s gonna come back, using Sean’s words, humble and hungry. I’m very proud of him and he’s shown people what he can do in this league and I don’t think he’s reached his ceiling, I think there’s still growth for him.
