Cavendish Cagey On Olympic Ambitions

Manxman plays his cards close to his chest over Tokyo 2020

Mark Cavendish has not yet ruled himself out of the 2020 Olympics, but also refuses to be drawn on whether Tokyo will form a goal of his season next year.

“We’ll see what happens. I’ve got to focus on what I’m doing right now and see what comes from that,” the Manxman said.

While he has a couple of smaller one-day road races in Europe on his programme, his next major goal is Six Day London in October, where he will race alongside Ineos’s Owain Doull against Olympic omnium champion Elia Viviani and Caleb Ewan, both of whom have achieved major wins in 2019.
