While most eyes in the cycling world will be focused on France, over the border in Italy the competition is likely to be equally fierce at the 30th edition of the Giro Rosa.
Of the riders competing for the maglia rosa over 10 days in Italy’s north, Dutch women Annemiek van Vleuten and Anna van der Breggen are the two most likely to occupy the podium’s top step in Udine on July 14.
The latter was not in Italy last year when the former took the win, and this year is set to be a showdown, with Van Vleuten looking for her second win and Van der Breggen her third.
