OBITUARY Mike Taylor 1935-2021

Mike Taylor was a stalwart of the British scene for decades and played a pivotal role in the development of many of British cycling’s biggest stars’ careers.

Taylor started riding at the age of 15, using his bike to leave his Manchester home and explore the lanes out towards Cheshire. When he left school he followed a career in the motor trade and would later go on to be a property developer.

During his early years his future wife Pat would accompany him on tours around the country, including a jaunt over to Ireland.

He became active in the North-West organising races including the Tour of the Peak. He also joined forces with his friend Harry Hall and the pair were regulars at races across the region, providing neutral service from a yellow minivan.
