Compared to the number of riders and races the actual ‘incidents’ are few and far between. It is part of the unique atmosphere of a Grand Tour. Maybe reduce the number of flags that get waved in front of the riders though, I think that is more likely to cause an accident. David Jackson

I love the atmosphere that’s generated by the fans on the climbs but they need to be a bit more responsible, which is impossible when a lot of them will be fuelled by beer! John Penfound
I don’t know if it’s possible, but even barriers aren’t a guarantee to avoid crashes. Look at Peter Sagan in Flanders in 2017. That said, more needs to be done and running alongside the riders might need to go. Andres Antonio Carriedo
