Neil Lennon on scooping up two players whose dream moves lead them to Paradise

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: JOE DONNELLY

ON paper, David Turnbull and Shane Duffy don’t appear to have much in common. For starters, there’s seven years between them. One is a playmaking midfielder, the other is a combative centre-back. One came up through the ranks at Motherwell, the other at Everton before moving through England’s League One, on to the Championship and, latterly, the Premier League. One grew up in Wishaw, the other across the water in Derry.

Now, signing for Celtic unites them. But not only that, so too does their message upon putting pen to paper at Paradise: that both moves were dream moves for each player. For Neil Lennon, that’s the most encouraging message for any manager to hear.

“I’m delighted to get Shane and David in, and to hear the guys independently call their moves to Celtic as dream moves, that’s really encouraging and all you can ask for as a manager, really,” said the Hoops boss an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “I was really pleased to get the deal with David done, I think he’s a really talented player. He’s had a really tough time of it with his injury but before that, he was outstanding and he’s come back to goalscoring form after a year out.

“That speaks volumes for his character, his desire and his will to come here and make an impression. It’s good to have players coming in who have a feel for the club and I think that’s very important in a season like this.”
