Sarah Ewens was delighted to score against Hearts last weekend, though she didn’t realise at the time that it was her 50th goal for Celtic

THE Celtic FC Women’s team sent a message to the rest of the league with their incredible 10-0 win against Hearts last week. Sarah Ewens was amongst the scorers with her 50th goal in the Hoops and now she is eyeing more milestones for the club.

The Celtic striker joined the club in December 2016 and, unbeknownst to her, she had just scored a milestone goal for the club in a style befitting of her qualities.

“I didn’t actually know until after the game that it was my 50th goal,” she told the Celtic View. “It’s a nice landmark to hit and I just want to keep working on that and try to get another 50 for Celtic.

“I was pleased with the goal itself. I came in off the left, past a couple of players and fired it into the top corner. It was a good way to score my 50th, but I don’t care if it’s a tap-in or a 25-yard strike, a goal’s a goal for me and I just want to keep adding to my tally going forward.”

Ewens is hoping to storm her way to the next milestone now that she can dedicate all of her time to perfecting her craft. The goals accumulated during her first three years at Celtic came while trying to balance a full-time job with training.

However, with the Celtic FC Women’s squad now in their first season as a professional team, Ewens has been able to invest all her efforts into chasing her dream.

“I was working at Arnold Clark in the office before we became professional so I was trying to juggle a full-time job with training on top of it,” she said. “It’s been nice to be able to focus on my football completely now.
