Athlete Bethan Goodwin on representing Scotland at the Netball World Cup, climbing the world rankings and her lifelong passion for Celtic
LAST year, Scottish netball player Bethan Goodwin represented her country at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Australia’s Gold Coast. This month, she and her Scottish Thistles team-mates have travelled to Liverpool to compete in the Netball World Cup 2019.
Facing-off against some of the best nations in the world hasn’t been easy, said the 20-year-old in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View, but her lifelong passion for Glasgow’s green and white is something which always drives her on a personal level.
“Seeing the success that Celtic have had in recent years has been incredible,” said Goodwin. “I don’t think it’ll ever happen again, the achievements over the last few seasons have been incredible. For me, that’s really been a motivation on the court, especially with the Scottish connection.
“My papa used to be a photographer and he travelled all over with the Celtic team. He went to Lisbon in 1967, and was friendly with all of the Lions. It’s always nice knowing that he had such a strong Celtic connection and that’s still a big part of our family.
