Scott Brown talks Treble Treble success, the value of pre-season training and winning more trophies under Neil Lennon

New Season, Same High Standards

FROM a fan’s perspective, the magnitude of the Treble Treble is hard to fathom.

Even now, almost two months after Scott Brown held the Scottish Cup aloft for a third successive season, it’s difficult to fully appreciate the significance of winning everything top-level Scottish football has to offer for three years on the trot.

What this team has achieved is nothing short of remarkable. And from a player’s perspective, Celtic’s club captain reckons it will never be done again.

“We’re the first club ever to win the Treble Treble, the first bunch of lads ever to do it,” said Brown in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “It’ll probably never be done again. The way we won it, the way we performed, the way we played - we bullied teams into submissions with our play, our fitness and approach.

“We played some great football throughout the run over the three years, and when the heat was on us, we dug deep and produced the results we were looking for. Winning it really was fantastic and a great way to cap off the last three years, at times against the odds, despite playing and performing at such a high level.

“We now need to make sure we kick on this year. We’ve had a good pre-season, and now our focus is on the European qualifiers and we want to push on from there.”

Despite recent accolades, Brown is adamant he and his team-mates cannot and will not rest on their laurels, and the club’s recent pre-season summer training camp in Austria and Switzerland provided the perfect impetus to build for another successful season ahead.
