Are you ever tempted to get back out there and play competitively in some kind of format?
No, not really. The good shots are just as good as they used to be, but there are more bad shots and they go further offline. I don’t miss playing on tour if I’m honest. It was a great time in my life that I feel I really enjoyed, but it’s something in the past. I’ve moved on to something that actually works better for me, my lifestyle and my family now as well.
This year we saw things getting quite heated between certain players and caddies. Did you ever have similar situations?
Yes, absolutely. That’s what a good caddie’s job is. It’s what Billy Foster did for donkey’s years with Lee Westwood and Steve Williams with Tiger Woods. Steve was the first guy to really say “no, hang on” and find a right way to challenge the player. We’ve all lost our tempers, I’ve done it loads of times throughout my career. But I’ve been lucky enough to have some great caddies on my bag and it’s a caddie’s job to tell you some home truths sometimes.
What is your take on the new rules and how they have been implemented this year?
