Ruby Walsh: Are you copying me by retiring?
Bary Geraghty: Yeah I try to copy you in everything really – not. D’you know I looked on as you retired last year and you’ve been going around the place smiling.
RW: What’s gone wrong there?
BG: I dunno exactly so from being a grumpy yoke for years, you’re actually floating around Punchestown and it was fine for one day, then you do it for two days and you’ve been doing it ever since. It kind of opened my eyes to think maybe it’s not such a bad thing to retire.
I had that broken leg last year and coming back from that wasn’t easy and I was laying on the ground in Aintree thinking ‘Is this where it ends?’ I got back from that – had a good season, but the time off with the whole thing at the minute has given me a chance to enjoy homelife. I’m looking forward to retirement now.
RW: Retiring at 11am on a Saturday night though!
