‘Carr has bought into the whole thing'

QUESTION SESSION WITH GM MIKE MAYOCK

General manager Mike Mayock has kept a relatively low profile since the season began, and that’s most likely by design. After dealing with the Antonio Brown saga and the Hard Knocks crew during training camp, Mayock needed a break. Not that he got one. Mayock has kept busy shuffling the roster and making moves to keep the Raiders in contention. Mayock recently spent time with Rich Eisen of NFL Network and shared some of his thoughts:

Q: It’s a long season but you guys reached the midway point in the thick of things. How do you feel about where the team is?

A: I think we’ve got a group of kids that compete and that’s the most important thing to me as we’re trying to build a foundation. We’re not a great football team by any stretch. We’ve got a long way to go. The important thing is, and I learned this years and years ago, every day if you get a little bit better, just every single day a tiny bit better, and keep that your focus, it’s a powerful force multiplier over a season. That’s what I hope. I’m not worried about playoffs, I’m not worried about records. I’m worried about this young team keeping their focus and just trying to get a tiny bit better every single day.
