Exclusive Interview With Heung-Min Son, Whose Hard-working Performances Have Epitomised Our Character and Determination in Recent Weeks, Not to Mention His Key Goals at Crucial Times.

Heung-Min Son believes that the character we’ve shown in recent weeks coupled with the quality in our squad will carry us a long way over the final four months of the season.

Our South Korean international was at the heart of two frantic matches last month, playing an integral role as we battled back from two-goal deficits against Manchester City in the Premier League and Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup to avoid defeat in both games and make it 10 matches unbeaten in all competitions.

Sonny was on target in both games, scoring our equaliser at the Etihad as we salvaged a point despite having been second best for much of the contest against Pep Guardiola’s side, while his late intervention at the Lane against Wycombe last weekend was even more dramatic.

Trailing 2-0 to the League Two side with just half an hour remaining, Sonny reduced the deficit with a strike from a tight angle to get us back into the game but, after Vincent Janssen’s penalty made it 2-2, we slipped 3-2 behind through Garry Thompson’s 83rdminute header.

If ever we needed to show belief, it was at that point...and we did just that with Dele Alli levelling the scores at 3-3 in the 89th minute before Son fired home in the seventh minute of stoppage time to break Wycombe’s hearts and book our place in the fifth round.

That is exactly the sort of character Heung-Min is referring to, that absolute belief that we will not be beaten despite the score line and the situation, an attribute which he feels will be so important as we enter a vital stage of the campaign.

“To get results in the games against Manchester City and Wycombe when we were not in a good position during the matches just shows what this team is all about,” said the former Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg forward.
