Birmingham City
Compared to clubs such as Charlton, Blackpool and Coventry, Birmingham City fans have little to moan about. Despite the best efforts of abysmal owners and their proxies over several years, the club do at least remain in the second tier of English football. We also brought in 14 new players in the close season, breaking our transfer record in the process.
That said, as now appears the norm in English football, Blues are saddled with owners who have scant regard to our history or geographical grounding. While the end of the Carson Yeung regime in 2014 was welcome – he is currently serving six years in prison in Hong Kong for money laundering – our latest owners, Paul Suen and Trillion Trophy Asia, are equally camera-shy and uncommunicative. Many fans have now concluded that the only objective is to use the club’s Hong Kong stock exchange listing to help the owners diversify their business portfolio and eventually sell us on.
