Joyce isn’t shy. She generously answers almost all our questions about her and more—and she does it with much honesty, wit, and vivacity. She throws questions back at you because she is interested to know the people around her. She even vocally condemns (but truly in jest) your food choices because “barbecue should go with spaghetti all the time.”

In front of the camera or in between layouts, Joyce remains the host and storyteller, randomly quizzing you to get to know you more, and in other times, regaling the team with her personal anecdotes and new learnings.

Joyce shares how excited she is for her first cover with Speed. For one, she loves interviews. Second, she is thrilled to work with renowned photographer Doc Marlon Pecjo for the first time.

The theme of the issue, Car & Bike, is also something that she can definitely relate to. “As a lot of people know, I’ve raced cars. I like motorbikes. I like riding,” she quips.

What kind of car do you own? Do you drive them yourself?

I own two cars that are very practical—I have a Toyota Altis and a Toyota Innova—and yeah, I drive them.

How often do you get to drive?

Seldom now. As in sobrang yung temper ko sa Manila traffic, ang lala! I’d rather spare myself the heartache and just have somebody else drive for me. I only drive when it’s absolutely necessary or when I need to give my driver a break.
