Asus has had their finger firmly on the pulse of the gaming industry for some years now with their Republic of Gamers sub brand. With most of us locked in our homes, there is no better time to unleash their mobile gaming powerhouse. The ROG Phone series enjoys a special place among the gaming devices because it taps into an elite section of users who are never satisfied with the power on their hands. The Asus ROG Phone 5 is the base variant of the series that includes the Pro and the limitededition Elite as well.

Design and Build

The ROG Phone 5 has a glossy finish. The device is available in Phantom Black and Storm White colours and has a subtle dot matrix design, which gives it a classy look. The illuminated ROG logo at the back now displays two colours with a smooth gradient. It supports eight different lighting schemes.

Predictably, the phone is much heavier than normal phones, thanks to the massive battery and cooling system. It weighs 238g and measures 172 x 77.2 x 10.29mm. The phone has rounded edges to provide a comfortable grip during gaming. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 at the back and the screen uses Gorilla Glass Victus, the toughest from the brand offering drop resistant up to two metres and better scratch-resistance than the Gorilla Glass 6. An anti-smudge coating keeps fingerprints at bay, at the same time, reducing friction in case of sweaty hands.
