Huami Amazfit Bip S - AMAZIN'

One of the biggest reasons for low adoption of smartwatches in India is the price barrier. Consumers want it but the decent ones are way too expensive. Huami aims to change it with the launch of Amazfit Bip S. Priced at just Rs. 4,999, the Bip S promises smartwatch features with accurate fitness tracking. But can it deliver at such a lucrative price tag? Let’s find out.

The first thing you realise when you pick up the Amazfit Bip S is how lightweight the watch is. At 31g, it is one of the lightest smartwatches around and it’s majorly due to the plastic body and TPU strap. The Bip S features a dual-tone design that makes the watch stand out and has a crown-like button on the side. The 1.28-inch square display at the top is protected under a larger 2.5D Corning Gorilla 3 glass. The glass also has an anti-fingerprint coating to prevent fingerprint smudges. Underneath the watch is the heart rate sensor and two POGO pin connectors for charging. Overall, we like the Amazfit Bip S’ design but we feel it would have been better if Huami had gone with a slightly larger display and used a magnetic charger instead of the clip dock.

The 1.28-inch display may be small and not that sharp at 176x176 resolution but the display excels when outdoors. The Amazfit Bip S has a transflective display, which means it’s not only power efficient but performs better in sunlight improving legibility. There’s no ambient sensor to automatically adjust the brightness but the watch allows to manually change it.
