RAJASTHAN: PEEK INTO THE WILDERNESS
Condé Nast Traveller India|December 2020 - January 2021
Whether it’s the semi-green forests of Mount Abu, the dry grasslands around the Thar, the deciduous thorny thickets of the Aravallis, or the wetlands of Bharatpur, Rajasthan’s stunning topography makes the state perfectly poised to play host to a diverse ecosystem of both animal and birdlife.
RAJASTHAN: PEEK INTO THE WILDERNESS

Although famed for its magnificent forts, fortresses, and heritage monuments, Rajasthan has much more to offer the avid traveler. With a number of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, Rajasthan invites you to heed the call of the wild and discover the striking natural beauty of its untamed landscape. Keep your eyes peeled and cameras on standby for when you spot birds such as peacocks, golden orioles, grey jungle fowls, doves, red spur owls, parakeets, and white-breasted kingfishers and predatory animals including panthers, leopards, tigers, jackals, desert foxes, and wild boars.

Go ahead—take a walk on the wild side by manoeuvring Rajasthan’s many unspoiled, picturesque protected reserves and sanctuaries and fall in love with nature and the outdoors all over again.

RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK, SAWAI MADHOPUR

One of India’s most famed national parks, Ranthambore National Park is nestled in the midst of the verdant foliage of the mighty Aravalli and Vindhya ranges and covers an area spanning 392sqkm. Once regarded as the hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, the park actually gets its name from the imposing Ranthambore Fort situated within its confines. Although the main attraction here is undoubtedly the magnificent Bengal tiger, the park is also populated with an array of other animal species—including sambhars and cheetals.
