SomGAGA’s daughter proves that talent runs in her blood by exploring the world of showbiz.
IN A time when fathers often abandon their children before they are even born, gay socialite, actor, TV star and radio personality, Somizi Mhlongo (44), has stood by her daughter, Bahumi Madisakwane (22), to make sure that she succeeds in life. And while many would expect that it bothers Bahumi that her father is gay, she doesn’t have a care in the world. What counts is that Somizi is supportive of her dreams.
“It doesn’t bother me at all that my dad is gay,” she laughs, adding that, “his sexuality is irrelevant. To me, he will always be my dad.”
Bahumi also shows that talent runs in the family. With a showbiz-loaded clan that includes a multitalented dad, a mother who is a seasoned actress, veteran actress grandmother Mary Twala, as well as a grandfather and superstar actor in his heyday the late Ndaba Mhlongo, it comes as no surprise that Bahumi has followed in her family's footsteps.
HARD WORK PAYS OFF
Fresh from making waves on Mzansi Magic’s reality TV show, Living The Dream With Somizi, where she starred alongside her dad, Bahumi recently snatched a leading acting role on Keeping Score, an action-packed telenovela that airs on SABC2.
The third-year law student stars alongside well-known actors such as Sonia Mbele, Saint Seseli and Solomon Sebothoma. While many might think it is her connections that got her this role, the young lady sets the record straight and admits that she had to undergo gruelling auditions.
