The British royal family is known as The Firm for a very good reason. They’re essentially a business with a CEO – the Queen – who carries most of the responsibility but needs the backing of an efficient and dedicated team for the whole operation to run smoothly.
Now, at a critical time when the boss is starting to feel the effects of her advancing years – and has been under the weather thanks to being struck by Covid – the MVPs among her “senior executives” are proving to be women who weren’t born royal but have stepped up to shoulder the load.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have all been worth their weight in gold to Her Majesty, carrying out numerous engagements, and winning over the public by supporting important causes like domestic violence and early childhood development.
Their efforts have been vital at a time when many of the men in the family have been letting the side down.
Prince Andrew has had to withdraw from royal life as a result of the Jeffrey Epstein/Virginia Giuffre scandal; Prince Harry, 37, has caused massive headaches since leaving his role as a senior royal and criticising his relatives in interviews; and there’s even a cloud over Prince Charles due to allegations that his charitable foundation has been handing out honours for cash.
