The Strength To Heal
Oxygen Magazine Australia|Issue 96

Strength can mean something different to each person. For Lisa, finding the inner strength to continue living her life after losing her daughter was the most difficult thing she would ever have to face. Her only solace came through her training and some inspiring words from a well-known name in the fitness industry, Lindy Olsen. Now Lisa is proving to herself (and to the world) just how strong a woman can be.

Lisa King
The Strength To Heal

When I think of a strong woman I think of women around me who I love and admire. Women who raise their children with very little time for themselves. Women who work fulltime yet still take time to look after themselves and those around them. Women who against all odds get up every day and still be the mum and wife their families need them to be because they don’t have any other choice.

I guess my strength is of a different kind. I moved out of home at just 14 after my dad passed away. My mum remarried a drug addict, which I disapproved of. I couldn’t stand to be around such toxic behaviour, so I started my journey alone. I lived with friends until I moved in with my real father’s family and at 19, with the help of my dad’s inheritance, I was able to purchase my house and begin my life. I was working as a PA/office manager, however I felt increasingly unhappy and overwhelmed in my position so I stopped that to study within the fitness industry, in the hope that I could help others and work towards a new direction; my passion.
