COME ON IN!
ABOUT ME I’m Kate Spiers, 30, TV presenter and blogger (@katespiers; katelavie.com) and I live here with my husband Jordan and our two cats, Mouse and Babyman.
OUR HOME A three-bedroom Victorian tenement flat in Glasgow’s Southside. We moved here in 2020.
WHEN WE MOVED IN The flat had been rented out and was a shell, but it had some gorgeous original features as well as central heating and double-glazed windows, so I knew that it had potential.
AND NOW We’ve pulled up carpets and installed a new kitchen and bathroom – all during a pandemic!
STYLE TIP I freshen up the decor by moving furniture between rooms, updating shelf displays and soft furnishings. It feels like you’ve got a whole new room as a result.
I wasn’t looking to move at all at first,’ says Kate. ‘We’d been in our old flat for six years and I loved the process of slowly doing it up together. But I wanted a new project as I had some downtime with work, and I noticed this property flicking through Rightmove one day. The flat, a three-bedroom shell, was just down the road from us. I saw it and thought, “I can do something with this”. I went to view it and put an offer in, which got accepted straight away.
