We Can Do Our Best To Live Well For As Long As Possible

IT was years after the death of her beloved grandmother that Annie Anderson discovered there was actually a history of bowel cancer in her family. At that point she decided to take control and make changes.

Annie decided that by adapting her own lifestyle and diet she could minimise her risks. Not only that, it fired her up to embark on a career which now helps to save the lives of others.

Professor Annie S. Anderson is a Public Health Nutritionist and Dietician and she loves the fact that, through research and education, she can help other people to take control of their own health.

“My research is focused around the concept of ‘teachable moments’,” Annie explains. “I believe that there are times in life when people become interested and motivated to improve lifestyles.

“It might be the death of a parent, or attending routine screening programmes like breast or bowel screening. These are often times when people start to think about disease prevention and it is timely to offer practical advice.
