The Voice host Emma Willis opens up about the toughest battle her marriage has faced...
Emma willis is currently the queen of primetime TV, fronting Saturday-night hit The Voice on ITV as well as this week’s BRIT Awards alongside Dermot o’Leary.
And as well as enjoying a professional high, the star’s personal life couldn’t get much better either. Mum to Isabelle, seven, Ace, five, and eight-month-old baby Trixie-Grace, Emma and husband Matt will celebrate nine years of wedded bliss this July.
However, not so long ago, Emma and Matt’s relationship was in a very different place. At its worst, Emma was left fearing that her husband would not return home.
BATTLING TOUGH TIMES
Just three months into their blossoming romance, Busted singer Matt Willis reached his lowest ebb. In 2005, after a well-documented battle with alcohol and drugs, he was admitted to rehab centre The Priory for alcohol abuse. A year later he was back there for drug use, and, in 2008 – just a few months before he was set to marry Emma – Matt went back for one final stint.
Recently discussing what she found most testing during the turbulent time Emma said, ‘The unknown. Not knowing whether he could do it. And not knowing if he’d come home. That was the worst.’
