Fern Britton has had an incredibly tough few years. Shortly after losing both her mother and father, the much-loved presenter split from her husband of 20 years before being plunged into a national lockdown amid the global pandemic.
Two years on, and it's no surprise that Fern is keen to move on with her life and start the new chapter she's been desperately waiting for. But, unfortunately, things aren't always that simple.
Going through a divorce is never an easy process, no matter who you are. Despite putting on a brave face and insisting things are 'all smooth', and that the pair are 'working it all out, Fern, we understand, is finding it tough.
She's tired, over it and frustrated that the ball-and-chain of divorce continues,' our well-placed source tells us.
Positive expectations
An eternal optimist, even when admitting her life did go upside down' following their shock split, Fern, 64, insisted it was the right decision for herself and Phil.
'We simply needed to follow our own paths. Over time we realized we weren't necessarily having the kind of life we once did. It seemed right to say “thank you" and move on,' she said.
And so they went their separate ways, with Phil keeping their house in Buckinghamshire and Fern keeping the one in Cornwall.
But two years into their divorce, the couple seem to have a bump in the road.
