William and Kate may still give their own interview to ‘set the record straight’ as the fallout from the Oprah bombshell continues, according to my palace sources.
So far the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have resisted making any official response to allegations fired straight at them in Harry and Meghan’s interview last month.
However, my palace insider has revealed the once ‘unthinkable’ move is increasingly emerging as one of the only ways to limit long-term damage to the Royal Family.
Prior to the sad news of Prince Philip’s death, I’m told discussions had already taken place over which broadcaster should be approached in the event the Duke of Cambridge chooses the nuclear option. This will be interpreted as the strongest indication yet that the possibility of an interview is still on the table.
The royals in crisis
William is particularly hurt by Meghan’s claim an unnamed member of the family made racist remarks when she was pregnant with Archie.
