For Jane McDonald, the last few months have been utterly heartbreaking. Having agonized through multiple pandemic lockdowns with the rest of the country, she suffered her most devastating blow in March when her fiancé of 13 years, Eddie Rothe, passed away following a battle with lung cancer.
After taking time out of the spotlight to grieve, Jane announced that the current series of Channel 5’s popular travel show, Cruising with Jane McDonald, would be her last – after an impressive 20 series. ‘If we know anything about what has happened in the past year, it’s that life is too short,’ explains Jane. ‘This has taught me that life is for living, and I will live it even more when we are allowed again.’
