Sheringham Park Norfolk
It’s easy to see why this 1,000-acre landscaped park with woodland and coastal views was originally the favourite of its designer Humphry Repton in 1812. An autumn walk reveals startling red Japanese maples and a flash of yellow from the larches on the drive, along with stately veteran oaks and spreading beeches that create a carpet of autumn colour. Coastal views are a feature of four waymarked walks at Sheringham Park, including the blue 4km Repton’s Walk, which leads up to the gazebo tower, where you can enjoy panoramic and unrivalled views of the North Norfolk coastline. ✣ Entrance free; car park free for National Trust members, otherwise £6;nationaltrust.org.uk
