LUCKY BAY, WA

The word “paradise” gets thrown around pretty frequently, but there’s no more appropriate word to describe this long, white-sand beach near Esperance in the south of Western Australia. This sheltered bay is perfect for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, boating and hiking through the surrounding Cape Le Grande National Park (in the company of plenty of neighbourhood kangaroos). From Esperance, Lucky Bay is a one-hour drive to the east.

COX BIGHT, TAS

Down in the far south-west of Tasmania, on the edge of Australia, sits the pristine and stunning Cox Bight. The only way to reach this remote wonderland is by walking the South Coast Track or taking a very long boat trip. It’s safe to say you can expect to see very few people. Most visitors choose to fly in a light plane from Hobart to Melaleuca airstrip, and hike five hours to Cox Bight.
