The duchess’ desire to copy Diana has the royals seething

Try as the Duchess of Sussex might, her wide-eyed engagement interview claim that she didn’t know much about who Prince Harry was until she met him seems to have been debunked.

In fact, those who knew her as a wannabe actress growing up in Los Angeles have long told Woman’s Day that Meghan was obsessed with Harry’s late mother, and “becoming the new Princess Diana”.

And, as Harry famously once pompously declared, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets”.

We have learned that as Harry, 35, and his 38-year-old wife of two years settle at breakneck speed in Hollywood, courtiers have noticed a “concerning” trend of Meghan copycatting Diana.

Alarm bells began to ring in the palace when it was revealed she has her sights set on the luxe Petra Manor. That same mansion (left) was also considered as a potential LA home for Diana and her lover Dodi Al Fayed, before they died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

“This sort of feels like it’s going too far now,” confides a source close to the Mountbatten Windsor family. “No one believed for a second that she really didn’t know who the royals were before Harry, but now it’s clear her desire to become Diana 2.0 is bordering on poor taste.”

According to our insider, it’s difficult to ignore the fact Meghan attempted to dress like Diana on several occasions before she wooed her son – including her famous sultry red dress – despite being from “an entirely different fashion era”.
