‘I'M THE QUEEN'S BIGGEST FAN!'

It’s going to be a right royal affair when this Aussie gran celebrates Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne

When Jan Hugo walks into her lounge filled with family, you can feel the love in the air.

But with a life-sized Prince Charles on her sofa, the Queen sitting opposite on her throne – complete with Corgis at her feet – and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in the kitchen, the 63-year-old’s “family” is anything but ordinary!

“I’ve always adored the British monarchy,” says Jan, a grandmother-of-four, who has harboured a 42-year regal obsession. “Every little girl wants to be a princess, marry a prince and live the fairytale happily ever after, I was no different.”

TIME TO CELEBRATE

Now with Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee – celebrating 70 years on the throne – in full swing, no one is more excited than the Queen’s self-confessed biggest Aussie fan.

“I’d give anything to be in England right now,” the staunch monarchist chimes. “But we’ll mark the occasion here at home – in her royal residence Down Under.”

Hosting a high tea with friends and family – both royal and commoners – followed by curating a royal exhibition and talk at the local library, Jan still has a lot to do.
