We're Australia's oldest newlyweds!

Centenarian Ron proved it’s never too late to fi nd your perfect soulmate when he promised all his love to 93-year-old Marie

Together they have notched up almost two centuries, but it took just an instant for Ron Hedley and Marie Hill to fall head over heels in love when they met during an exercise class at their nursing home north of Sydney.

“I couldn’t believe it,” beams 100-year-old widower Ron, who got a second lease of life after he and Marie’s love affair unexpectedly blossomed at the Cameron Park Care Community home in Lake Macquarie.

“She’s a beautiful woman!” It was nothing short of a whirlwind romance for the pair, who met only 12 months ago, both struggling with loneliness and depression after losing their beloved life partners.

“He just seemed so nice right from the time I met him,” says Marie with a radiant smile. “And I thought he’s a lovely fellow.”

PLAYING CUPID

Lifestyle coordinator Miki Stojcic is claiming Cupid rights after encouraging Marie to join the home’s exercise class.

“Marie spotted Ron and from that day everything changed,” says Miki.
