Before her days on the airways, this Flava radio star worked in nightclubs doing promotions and events for almost 10 years. Athena has attended some unbelievable parties in her time, but there’s nothing she loves more than playing the role of host.

“I get that from my mum and being Filipino. It’s very natural for us, we just want to feed people and make sure they’re happy!” laughs the former Celebrity Treasure Island contestant, 28. “Coming into the clubbing and promotion scene, for me, was about having an impact on someone and showing them a great time.”

But it was working for larger-than-life Kim Dotcom and his family that led her to the most extravagant party hosting. After unknowingly facing off against Kim in an online video game, where he used the nickname Mega Racer, the infamous internet entrepreneur reached out and hired her as a kids’ activity coordinator.

“He flew me down to Queenstown for a couple of months with his family and it was really cool. I became really attached to the kids and good friends with Mona,” shares fun-loving Athena. “I wanted to stay working for them longer, but Flava offered me this job straight off the street and I couldn’t turn that down.

“But we’re still close and I’ve hosted parties for him like an All Blacks party, a New Year’s party and all these crazy events!”
