The star comes clean about her battle for sobriety

Jessica Simpson once confessed she was “killing herself” with alcohol and pills during her darkest days.

But on November 1, the star celebrated four years of sobriety by sharing an“unrecognisable” snap of herself from to show how far she’s come.

“This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognisable version of myself,” she confessed in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect and brave this world with piercing clarity. Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol.”

The 41-year-old mother-of-three, who shares daughter Maxwell, nine, son Ace, eight, and daughter Birdie, two, with husband of seven years Eric Johnson, went on to admit she “can’t believe it has been 4 yrs! It feels like maybe 2” since she turned her back on the booze.

But the singer-turned-reality star says she managed to pack a lot of progress into that time. “The drinking wasn’t the issue,” continued the entertainer. “I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do.”
