Raising their baby in ‘exile’ could be the duo’s dream
It should be a glorious time for the British royal family, with the Queen’s cherished grandson Prince Harry becoming a father for the first time.
Instead, the Duke of Sussex and his new wife Meghan are forcing the palace to an uncomfortable crossroads, in which there are genuine fears the couple will raise their baby away from the royal fold, removed from the influence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they cement their roles as the future King and Queen of the United Kingdom.
After months of rumours that all was not well between the two dukes, their body language spoke for itself on Easter Sunday during a church service at St George’s Chapel.
“Harry and William did not speak, and Harry only offered a brief pleasantry to Kate,” a longtime royal watcher tells. “Harry looked very out of place. He made all the niceties and bowed to the Queen, but mostly looked as if he’d rather be anywhere else on the planet.
“It was a huge difference to before he married Meghan – he used to love being the third wheel to Wills and Kate, who has been like a sister to him. Harry is a different man now.”
However, Harry looked noticeably more comfortable alongside Kate during a surprise appearance at an ANZAC Day service at Westminster Abbey while his brother was here in New Zealand.
The rift between the brothers reached a public boiling point when a bombshell report in respected newspaper The Times on Sunday revealed Harry and Meghan are “being considered” for a representative role which would see them move to Africa for two to three years in 2020.
