With her marriage in free fall, Victoria Beckham went into her 10th New York Fashion Week hell-bent on proving her doubters wrong. Making sure that husband David and their media-savvy kids were available for every possible photo opportunity, the 43-year-old was reportedly on a mission to convince the world that Team Beckham is stronger than ever.

But according to well-placed sources, Victoria and David, 42, were barely on speaking terms in the Big Apple, even opting to sleep apart. In fact, those close to them fear that their crumbling marriage is just the tip of the iceberg and that each of the superstars are locked in their own midlife crises.

“Things are not good at all,” reveals an insider. “Posh hadn’t spoken to David for days before he arrived in New York, apart from over text to communicate about the kids. So as soon as he landed, the tension between them was at an all-time high.

“They had separate hotel rooms. Victoria was telling anyone who asked that she was suffering from insomnia and didn’t want to disturb David, but the real reason was they can barely be in the same room without breaking into a huge row. They can’t agree on anything and neither of them can see a happy future together. It’s heartbreaking.”
