Real Men Vs Real Women

A real woman can do it all by herself!

This quote amazes me every time I read it, especially the second part. When a woman is capable enough why the “Real” man won’t let her? How his being ‘real’ leads to not letting a woman do what she is capable of?

Life is full of examples where such proclaimed real men do not let her….

“Enough!!!” My husband shrieked as I was reversing my car. It’s not that I am a bad or careless driver or need an eye checkup as I could see the wall behind was 3 feet away. Hence along with my eyesight, depth perception skills are also in place.

Then was the loud shrieking “Enough” needed which scared the adjacent car’s driver and that too from a guy who passed the driving test with me with a way below score than mine. On a ‘Why’ looks from me, he just sniggered, “Oh! I was just reminding you to be cautious! I love to take care of my wife.”

Love to take care? Wow, what a superb concoction to divert the actual reason behind the shriek. I wished to scream that time, “For god’s sake stop taking care of me, like this for various reasons 10 times a day & scaring me.”

“Hello, Beta…!” A known voice startled me at Kochi airport. Meeting Jaspreet's uncle was a pleasant surprise until I got to know it was dad who called him to take care of me in a not-so-known city.

To visit new places and meet new people is a part of my training job; I am not a small kid who would need to be escorted.
