Artist Bikash Poddar was born in 1958 to a nuclear family in Kaliyaganj, North Bengal. As a child, he demonstrated his love for arts and spent hours drawing, scribbling, and sketching despite the reprimands he faced from his parents and teachers. After his schooling, he pursued Arts seriously and decided to get a degree from the Government College of Arts and Crafts Kolkata in 1979. After he finished his course in 1982 with a gold medal, Poddar joined the advertising world. Having experienced the advertising industry for over a decade and a half and working in three different cities in India, Poddar shifted his focus to art in 1999.
