THIS weekend will see one of the greatest motoring events on the calendar kick off in West Sussex, as the Goodwood Festival of Speed opens its doors. In addition to all of the new-car reveals that will take place on the lawn of the Duke of Richmond's home, there will be the usual overwhelming range of stars, cars and motorcycles from the world of motorsport to drool over during the four-day event.
This year will be a celebration of Porsche, with some of the Stuttgart brand's most memorable cars taking part in the hillclimb. Porsche will also be the theme of the huge central sculpture that sits in front of Goodwood House each year.
The Le Mans 24 Hours plays a significant role in Porsche's history, and race winners such as the 936/81, 911 GT1-98 and 919 will be present. Class victors in the shape of the 1961 718 W-RS Spyder and the 2018 911 RSR 'Pink Pig' will also feature.
