The Nissan X-Trail is a far cry from what it once was when it arrived in 2001 as a Land Rover Freelander-esque 4x4. Now in its fourth generation, it's a large family SUV, and one of only a few in its class to sport seven seats.
We've driven this X-Trail before, with the clever e-Power drivetrain, which uses a three-cylinder petrol engine to drive a generator, which charges a battery, which powers two axle-mounted electric motors to drive the wheels. I know, complex, but the result is basically a 201bhp EV that you fill up with petrol.
