Perez Beats Verstappen

Max Verstappen recovered from P15 to achieve a one-two for Red Bull as his teammate, Sergio Perez, turned pole position into victory at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

IN ORDER TO MAKE UP FOR the possible victory Sergio Perez had missed at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit a year ago, he overcame an early attack from Fernando Alonso, a tense Safety Car period, and Max Verstappen's surge from the middle of the pack. This victory also further consolidated Perez's chances of winning the 2023 title. Verstappen quickly moved up to P2, but ultimately had to give in to Perez. The defending world champion was dealing with additional driveshaft issues during the closing stages of the race. The same component had broken in qualifying.
