WITH A SPRINT AND Grand Prix double in Azerbaijan last time out, Sergio Perez reduced Max Verstappen's championship lead to just six points. A tumultuous qualifying session at the Miami International Autodrome gave him a good opportunity to overtake Verstappen.

However, Max Verstappen skilfully extended his initial stint on hards to advance from P9 to P1, with a series of great manoeuvres, and he eventually emerged slightly behind his teammate with a fresh set of mediums late in the race, while Perez led the first half of the race on a medium-hard tyre strategy.
