According to Johan P. Schlyter, Managing Director at the company, the heavy tipper is expected to set new standards in the mining and transport sector. Schlyter stated, "This launch is a new era in mining, combining cutting-edge technology, unmatched performance, and eco-friendly design. The 'Super' is not just a vehicle; it is a revolution that redefines standards and sets new benchmarks in the industry." He highlighted the truck's low-emission, biodiesel/ FAME-compatible engine in the 500 hp range as the epitome of fuel efficiency.
The 'Super' has already achieved a notable eight pe cent fuel savings, making it a proven workhorse. The truck's fuel efficiency was further recognised when it won the Green Truck Award for the year 2022.
At the heart of the Super is its engine. Designed to address the dual challenge of reducing emissions and increasing profitability in the industry. It offers the highest peak-rated power and torque capabilities on the market, powered by XT technology. The BSVI six-cylinder 12.7-litre diesel engine with double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, turbocharger with fixed geometry (FGT) and a proprietary Scania exhaust after-treatment system with twin SCR generates a bestin-class, low-end torque of 2650 Nm in the 900-1320 rpm range. It is paired with the new efficient 14-speed range splitter (14+2R) manual synchromesh (with crawler and overdrive) G33 HeavyDuty gearbox. The engine runs on a large 395-litre steel fuel tank with a fuel optimiser unit. An outcome of ongoing developments, the G 500 Super tipper will replace the G-500 XT upon commercialisation in the next two to three quarters. Scania India will use this time to validate the global assessment of the Super engine in Indian mining conditions and introduce it to Indian customers as part of the go-to-market strategy.
