I’ve always enjoyed riding all year. I like the challenges of changeable conditions. On the road if you have the correct attitude, are comfortable with the bike and have the appropriate kit, then riding in unfavourable conditions can be rewarding. But having the right bike and kit is essential, which is why I’m enjoying the 1290.
Just the ticket
As we move into winter my KTM is showing once again how versatile it is. The standard three-stage heated grips are toasty warm. The manually adjustable screen is large enough for visor-up motorway speeds, when it turns dark and you’ve forgotten a clear visor, again. And in the rain, it deflects a decent amount of rain from your upper body.
The lean-sensitive headlights are impressive. We don’t often talk about headlights but owning a bike for a long time has allowed me to ride at night. I live reasonably remotely in East Yorkshire, and strong headlights are essential – the KTM’s beam being one of the best I’ve ever used, impressive.
